The Valkyrie is, in the oldest strata of belief, Like you, a corpse goddess, represented by the carrion-eating raven.
The name in Old Norse, "Valkyrja",  means literally, "chooser of the slain."
The Valkyrie is related to the Celtic warrior-goddess, the Morrigan, who likewise may assume the form of the raven.

She rides out upon the battle-field of the dead and dying, and from them...

Selects those few
Those few who shall live in Valhalla

Heroes. Immortal.

And not forgotten. The rest…?

Who can know what becomes of the rest?

I don’t.

I don’t care.

I live in Valhalla.
House of the mighty risen because I was chosen by you, My Immortal Beloved, to take this journey with you and see you off on your voyage into The Undiscovered Country.
And I am honored an priveleged by this.

My Shiny Wife
My Darkwolf
My Dog of War
My Priestess
My Warrior Witch
My Accountant?
My P.A.
My Councellor
My Bain of My LIFE!
My Ragazza
My Fellow Traveller
My Secret Service Agent
My Chooser of Restaurants??? LOL...
My Immortal Beloved

You'll be back to fetch me off the battle-field - I have no doubt.
If anyone asks... Tell Them... "WE WERE DOING OUR JOB!"

ROMA VICTOR!

Lady in Black -

Uriah Heep

She came to me one morning
One lonely Sunday morning
Her long hair flowing in the mid-winter wind
I know not how she found me
For in darkness I was walking
And destruction lay around me
From a fight I could not win

She asked me name my foe then
I said the need within some men
To fight and kill their brothers
without thought of love or God

And I begged her give me horses to
Trample down my enemies
So eager was my passion
To devour this waste of life

She said she would not help me
Nor put me on that path
That reduces men to animals
Dying in the dark
So easy to begin and yet impossible to end

For she the mother of all men
Had councelled me so wisely then
I feared to walk alone again
And asked if she would stay

Oh, lady, lend your hand, I cried
Oh, let me rest here at your side
Have faith and trust in me, she said, and filled my heart with life

There is no strength in numbers
Have no such misconceptions
But when you need me be assured I won't be far away

Thus having spoke she turned away
And though I found no words to say
I stood and watched until I saw her black cloak
disappear

My labor is no easier
But now I know I'm not alone

I find new heart each time I think upon that windy day
And when one day she comes to you
Drink deeply from her words so wise
Take courage from her as your prize
And say hello for me

I rendered this illustration in 1976, 42 years before
I found YOU - the Valkyrie who will fetch ME in the morning!

You! will return to Fetch ME! - Strega Donna Mia
You have no choice in the matter.

I will be on the beach for breakfast, as usual.
And I will bring you an Amstel.

WOLF and I will be waiting for you to do your job.

Get your arse into Gear, Darkwolf... It's Show Time!

ROMA VICTOR!

Predictive:  I rendered these pictures in 1978. A fantasy I had 30 years before I found The Donna Darkwolf.
It was a romanic notion. The REALITY was a harder medicine. AND I GOT THE NOSE RIGHT!
When I finally caught up with My Lady in Black, and found out what our Mission was, I knew I was in a "place".
The Donna Darkwolf is the last of her kind.
And I have been chosen to do the job of a Valkyrie
Well I done it enough times in combat, in an Allouette 3SA helicopter gunship - AirMobil 3.
Collected enough damaged soldiers off the battle field...
Flying back to fetch my Donna Darkwolf was a walk in the Park
Listen for the Breath of Angels - EVERYWHERE - for one thousand yards

I found the Donna Darkwolf. And I brought her home.
Dead, or alive, as I promised my own team, all those years ago... We All Go Home Together.
The Donna resides in the mountains of the ocean. Oxala. And lives on with me. In my Ivory Tower in The Sky. Gardens Centre. On the edge of Table Mountain. Cape Town.
